The Control Centre is organizationally part of the Swedish Customs Administration's Control Department but supports the entire event-driven operational activities. The Control Department has a broad mandate to ensure that only approved goods pass through Sweden's borders. The task involves conducting customs controls on imports and exports, where the Swedish Customs Administration looks for goods that violate restrictions and ensures that correct customs duties and taxes are collected. The mission is also to stop or seriously disrupt organized crime and ensure competitive neutrality.

About the position

As a Duty Officer at the Swedish Customs Administration's Control Centre, you will decide on and coordinate national cases and interventions, as well as other assignments within the scope of the Control Centre's operations. The role includes supporting and handling questions from operational activities, contacting cooperating authorities, and contributing to the Control Centre having a consolidated and current operational situation picture.

You will also serve as an investigator-in-charge, which means following up on current investigations and deciding on the necessary investigative measures and decisions. In your work, you will be supported by the Control Centre's control operators. The operations run 24/7, year-round.

As a Duty Officer, you will lead other roles within the Control Centre during certain shifts.

Are you the one we are looking for?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience with the Swedish Customs Administration's control activities, preferably from law enforcement, customs crime, or intelligence work.
  • At least three years of work experience.
  • A completed and approved upper secondary education.
  • Swedish citizenship.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Leadership training.
  • Experience in staff management.

Personal qualities

  • Stable, calm, and secure in pressured situations.
  • Very good collaboration skills to work together at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Decisive and action-oriented. Ability to make quick decisions and act on them even in difficult circumstances.
  • Good ability to express oneself in speech and writing. Ability to express oneself in a structured and clear manner in both oral and written presentations.
  • Clear communicator. Ensures that messages reach their audience and that expectations are clear for the parties involved.
  • Flexible, with the ability to adapt to changed circumstances.
